About the Congress

The Iberian Society of Greek Philosophy is holding the V International Congress of Greek Philosophy on 27, 28 and 29 June 2024 at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the University of Coimbra. On 27, 28 and 29 June 2024, the V International Congress of Greek Philosophy will be held at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the University of Coimbra. The event, organised since 2008 by the Iberian Society of Greek Philosophy, brings together specialists in ancient Greek thought from Spain and Portugal every four years, in addition to the important presence of Latin American and European scholars and the growing participation of North American and Asian speakers. This time, the congress will take place in Coimbra, under the tutelage of the Centre for Classical and Humanistic Studies.

 

The Congress will include papers dedicated to the study of the following thematic areas:
      1) Pre-Socratic thought;
      2) Socrates and the Sophists;
      3) Socratic schools;
      4) Plato;
      5) Aristotle;
      6) Hellenistic philosophy;
      7) Neoplatonism and Late Antiquity;
      8) Projection, influence and reception of ancient philosophy.
